Dr. Mandy Rice is dual-board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. In her active surgery practice that she splits between Hot Springs, AR, and the Dallas area, she came to realize that many of her female patients had untreated mid-life symptoms, were not in an optimized health status conducive to surgery and healing, and did not have the medical and lifestyle support to address these issues.
In order to better address the health needs of women in mid-life, Dr Rice became certified by the Menopause Society. This association and credential promotes the most up-to-date data, resources and therapies for your benefit.
Dr Rice's early career was as a pharmacy tech, then into nursing where she was a pediatric ICU and transport RN (fixed and rotary wing in San Antonio) for about 7 years. From there she earned a Masters Degree in Medical Sciences, as well as her Medical Degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. She completed her General Surgery residency, as well a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care in Pittsburgh, PA, in the Allegheny Health Network, affiliated with Drexel School of Medicine.
Dr. Rice has been an employed surgeon, but in January 2024 she opened her own independent surgical practice in Arkansas: Direct Surgical Care of Hot Springs. Simultaneously, she also spends 2-3 days a month in the Dallas area at a Level 1 trauma center covering high acuity trauma surgeries, emergency surgeries, and the trauma intensive care unit, as well as teaching surgical residents and fellows.
